Since everyone’s been asking about his condition, I figure it’s best to start this off with an update on Endo, who got wrecked pretty bad on his first attempt dropping into the set on Friday’s practice. Thankfully, no one else got too seriously hurt (although Ben Voyles may have broken his shoulder). Anyway, he spent Friday night in the hospital, and is back home now. From what he told me last night, he broke his nose, got some stitches above his eye, and can’t remember a thing that’s happened since Wednesday; luckily, his teeth weren’t too damaged, and he seems to be in pretty good spirits, considering what’s happened to him. So, keep him in mind, and send him your regards.
On to the actual event, it went off pretty well (if a tad long), culminating with Mike “Hucker” Clark, Anthony Napolitan, and TJ Ellis taking third, second, and first, respectively, and Anthony Napolitan winning best trick by stomping out a clean 360 triple whip, amongst other bangers. Everyone who entered, especially the guys who’ve never hit a double that big (much less dropped in on anything of that size) before, gets major props.
I should have an edit up tonight; I’m currently going through the footage, and I’m trying to decide whether or not to do a short and simple finals recap or a longer highlights reel of the whole contest. Also, I should be getting some photos from Dennis Dowling soon. For the time being, Ride’s on the ball and already has photos up here.
Lastly, I’ve got to throw out a big thanks to Mat Mardesich and Travis Hill for getting the course built and set up, and Nyquist and PAL for getting the ball rolling and making this happen.
