I filmed a bit of the street jam, but decided to leave that footage out of this edit. It’ll pop up in a mix edit sooner or later. Anyway, Nick Noble won best trick with truckdriver to no-footer one-hander, and Jason Lopez took first over Diogo Canina and Rob Darden. As far as other standout shit goes, Joel Hulsey did a lot of rad shit, Tom Dugan went stupid high with a ton of style, Van Homan did a perfect no-footed can, Mike Aitken was present, and Mark Blackwell was doing the forbidden trick all damn day.

Warriors of Wood III
[9/7]

[8/31] Alright, so here’s the info, straight from Ryan:
The “wooden trails” jam is going down on Saturday, September 17th, with a rider entry fee of $25 and a spectator fee of $5. The course is shorter than the previous years, with shorter jumps, from what I’ve been told – here’s a rough schematic that Ryan cooked up. Anyway, there’s going to be a free (to ride and spectate) street jam on Sunday, September 18th, underneath the I-680 overpass at PAL. I haven’t heard yet on what the layout is exactly, but at least some of the ramps should be from that Red Bull FGFS comp that went down in San Francisco several months back. I haven’t gotten any word on the exact times that either events starting at, but you should be able to expect practice sessions for the jumping course on Friday night and Saturday morning.
[8/24] I’m still trying to get some things (times, course layout, etc.) about this clarified from Ryan, but, in the meantime, here’s the flyer.

Too Much Info, Cam…
Several people requested that I upload Birdwell’s 1080 attempt, since I didn’t put it in my edit. So, here it is.

Warriors of Wood II Results and Ride’s Coverage
If you weren’t there, the top three were TJ Ellis, AJ Anaya, and Pat Casey, with Cameron Birdwell coming through to win best trick with a superman seatgrab peggrab that almost included a half-barspin. Birdwell also tried hucking a 1080 over the last set, and slammed so hard that he broke a few ribs in the landing. I’m just now getting all the clips I shot onto my computer, so hopefully my edit will be online tomorrow. Anyway, here’s the first video up of the event; Fat Tony must’ve been up pretty late editing this. Also, click here to check out Fat Tony and Brandon Mean’s photos from the event, as well as a write-up.

Warriors of Wood II Preview
Ryan took a break from working on Warriors of Wood yesterday to do this short interview with me. Stop by and help him out today if you can, and be sure to be there on Saturday! Also, to answer some questions that I’ve been asked about the event:
- If you’re not riding in the event, yes, you can bring your bike in. For liability reasons, they ask that you not ride it on the field or in the stands, though.
- If you want to ride, you can sign up as late as 2PM on Saturday, at the booth next to the main entrance. If you’re under 18, you’ll need a parent to sign your waivers.
