STFBMX Grand Opening
[6/10] Greg and I headed out to the shop yesterday to help Samar and Nick out, and I also shot this little bit with Nick about Saturday’s grand opening event. Be sure to come and check out the scene, because it’s gonna be rad.
[6/1] Samar hit me up the other day to let me know that he now has the keys to the shop, and that the grand opening event is still going down on the 12th. However, the address is 728 Main Street in Martinez, and not the location in Pleasant Hill that I’d thought it was at.
[5/24] I keep forgetting to post this up, but Samar Carrillo and Nick Ramirez’s BMX-specific shop in Pleasant Hill Martinez, STFBMX, is set to open on June 12th. In the meantime, check out their website.

King of Cali Updates
Mike Krnaich sent this over earlier today:
King of Cali has had two sick rounds happen already at The Compound and the Fresno cement park where only the men showed up to ride the biggest gnarliest cement bike-only park in the country. Thanks to 60-70 riders at each event everybody leaving having a good time. The riding was off the hook as we all expected, and there was an all-around good vibe. Hopefully that trend continues as KOC travels up to NorCal for Round 3 at Ramp Rats in Petaluma. The first half of the series was definitely a success. Six guys from each class have already qualified for the final at Woodward West in November, where, amongst other sponsor prizes, amateurs can win a week’s stay. Pro’s will be riding for $1000 for first place, guaranteed by S&M and Fit, with paydowns through fifth place. The OG class is riding for a night at Centerfolds.
We are already talking about next year, with guaranteed cash prizes at qualifying stops, and possibly adding more events at the Fun Spot and/or Cunningham into the mix. Stay tuned to KingofCaliBMX.com for results and pictures of the first two events.
Also, Mike’s got the keys to the warehouse for Ramp Rats II in Santa Rosa, so expect some more information on that in the near future.

2nd Annual S&M/Fit Customer Appreciation Party, Hosted by First Rule
With the up-rising of personal activity in the First Rule Collective recently, we have decided to combine events in 2010, to be more efficient. What with Kweli’s family, my school work, Cheese out running the streets, and Koit’s constant need to be on the road, how else will the doughnuts get made??
So here you have it… this is the 2nd Annual S&M/Fit Bikes Customer Appreciation Party, hosted by First Rule!
Meet us at the Oakland Metro Opera House at 12 noon on Sunday, June 13th! We will, as per usual, Scrape the Town… but with a slight twist. You see, this street ride will come back to the Opera House for a juicy treat. This lovely venue will be fitted for all of the flatlanders we can fit on the dance floor! Chad & Amy Johnston have helped organize this to fit your flatland needs. That’s right, this is a 6,000 sq ft venue, ready to be melted by any rider who wishes to attend, for free. All any rider has to do, flat, street, or whatever your treat, is meet us at 12 noon, sign up for the ride, and get your wristband for the afterparty. This is an all-ages event, fully equipped with a BBQ and drinks, with drinks for the adults as well! (Drink specials when provided when beverages run out.) And you can bet that with Moody as emcee, with two DJs and a few bands to back him up, there will be a tad bit of entertainment for all of your taste buds!
This event is free for any rider who wishes to come out and say “what up!” There will be prizes from S&M and Fit Bikes, and local Bay Area bike shops.

Backyard Jam ‘93: The Chasm
I’m posting this because it’s awesome. You really can’t go wrong with anything involving Chris Moeller or Keith Treanor, especially when it involves open-face helmets, 1″ headtubes, and huge doubles.

Zorg Brownswine Bars
Luke from Zorg Bikes sent me an email earlier today, asking me to let everyone know that the bars that they’ve been working with S&M on, the Brownswines, are finally out. They’re 13-butted and weigh in at 25.5 ounces, are 8″ tall and 28″ wide, with 12° backsweep and 1° upsweep. Also, they’re threaded for and come with a pair of Tree barends.

Interbike ‘09
Nick Gust sent in these photos from everyone’s favorite annual tradeshow. There were a few more than this, but I’m only posting up the eight in which I could actually ID the products. As usual, rollover the images for the captions, and click to make ‘em big.
