The Russian Slava-class guided missile cruiserVaryag is docked at Piers 30-32 on the Embarcadero this week (the first time a Russian naval vessel’s docked in San Francisco since during the Civil War, in 1863), and they’re doing tours on Thursday from 10AM-1PM. Figured I should post it, since it’s highly unlikely that the opportunity to take a tour of an ex-Soviet warship is going to arise again. Via The Chronicle.
This dude was around a year or so back, but all the riding is from Moscow. Music’s from out here, though. The clip around 2:15 has the most epic build-up to it. Peeped on Dave’s blog.
I don’t normally post stuff not at all involving NorCal or its riders, but I spotted HHX’s “Velociraptor” on BMXBoard, and felt the need to post it because it’s fucking rad. Ironically, I was talking to Cubby and Jake a couple weeks back about how I thought it was odd that the majority of Bay St.’s traffic was coming from Russia, and how I didn’t even really know much about the BMX scene there, aside from the occasional crazy video or traffic coming here from InsideBMX, and, sure enough, a full-length Russian video comes out. Anyway, it’s pretty long, and you’re not going to be able to read the titles because they’re in Cyrillic, but the music is rad, the riding is good, and watching it is time well spent, so do it.
I hadn’t run across this site until earlier today, when I was checking who’d been linked here from where. So… go over there and take a look. And then go to insidebmx.ru, who wins the monthly award for oddest site to be linked from. From what I can see, it’s The Come Up Light, except in Russian… and with more videos of Chuck Norris as Super Mario?
