Bicycle Film Festival Block Party

[7/13] First Rule is hosting the Bicycle Film Festival block party for the third year in a row. This year’s event is going to be fucking rad. We’re going to have some really good ramps this year thanks to Colin, and Jase is going to weld up some rails for us (he’s the guy that probably welded your frame if you ride a Solid, S&M, or Fit). Also, I just uploaded the new First Rule website! There’s loads of content on there, so please check it out and bookmark it. There are a few bugs still, but I should have all of those squared off tonight. In other news, look out for some new videos of Tony Campos and Kurt Russell on Vimby.

[7/2] First Rule is hosting the Bicycle Film Festival Block Party for the third year in a row. We’re going to get things started at noon on Saturday, July 18th. This year’s event will be huge: better ramps, more prizes, merch booths, and much, much more. In addition to the Block Party, at 7pm there will be showings of four BMX films! You can buy tickets here for $10. We will be giving some tickets away, but I encourage everyone to go and support local filmmakers like Marco and myself.

I’m Good On That One
Dir: Marco Svizzero
A fun summer in SF with amazing BMX riding.

Kritsada Prathumma
Dir: Chris San Agustin
What it’s like to be a bike shop owner in Thailand and a BMX pro flatlander.

I Love My Bicycle: The Story Of FBM Bikes
World Premiere
Dir: Joe Stakun
In reaction to big business BMX companies in the early 90’s, 17 year-old Steve Crandall started a company of his own called Fat Bald Men. What began as selling t-shirts out of a backpack has turned into one of the most well respected DIY bicycle companies around. Through fortune and misfortune, the film follows FBM through their 15 years of mayhem as told by Crandall and the rest of the BMX bicycle community from close friends to influential icons like Dave Mirra and Mat Hoffman.

Rain or Shine

Below is a video I shot for VIMBY of First Rule’s San Diego event. Speaking of First Rule, has any one seen the write up on BNQT? The blogger goes by the name Dr. Raptor Jesus. Anyway, he hates on First Rule and the Bay Area in general. I think he is the guy that does all the Give D stuff. It’s funny since Give D has come to the Bay to film a lot. Hoang and Alfred were both at our event and seemed to have a really good time. Drama aside, everyone had a good time both on and off the streets. First Rule has a bus now. Pictures of that soon!

Zion I and More

Sorry Beerman, but I got to post this video, even though it has nothing to do with BMX. I got to rep my city! A John Ivers edit should be up this week as well. First Rule is heading south for C’Est La Vie in San Diego! Marco is travelling down with some of the dudes to film a roadtrip video for Vimby and I will be there covering the event as well. I hope to see you all there!

I was supposed to film Jarrod tomorrow in Santa Cruz, but the weather is crap, so I put this edit together. New and old clips from Oakland, Santa Cruz, and Thailand. I am filming a video on Zion I, and the music in this is by Amplive. Get stoked.

Kritsada Prathumma

Like I promised, here is a fresh edit from Thailand. Da has some original lines in this which is pretty rare these days. Leave me comments and let me know what you think. I will be re-editing all of these in the near future. Meanwhile, enjoy this. I am going to try my hardest to have another one ready for the Bicycle Film Festival.
