Oakland Goes Crazy Over Obama!

I shot this footage just blocks from my house in Oakland. Crazy.

First Rule Presents a Hell On Wheels 4 Video

Hey, everyone. Thanks for coming out to First Rule's Hell on Wheels 4. I hope you all had a lot of fun, and we're sorry for not having the BBQ. We were supposed to get $500 from 42 Below, and that fell through. LA threw down, taking 1st, 2nd, and worst crash. 3rd place went to my new roomy Kyle Frazier. Also note that after watching a dude's crank arm exploding I realized he could have really killed someone! Dangerous!

P.S. I really hate the edit I did, so there will be a new edit available on our new DVD. I will cross my fingers and hope we can start releasing them in Blue Ray. Check back soon for more info on that.

Things

There's going to be a protest/BBQ/"Don't tase me bro!" session at the Walnut Creek skatepark on the November 15th. For more information, click here.

Dan The Man sent me this photo of a pre-crash Ari trying his damnedest to imitate The Gonz. Badass. In an odd coincidence, searching for "gonz treeride" on Google Images pulls up these photos, but none of the Great Gonzarelli flairing out of a tree.

I didn't make it out to Hell On Wheels 4, due to being really hungover, but from what I've been told, it was pretty rad. I guess that somebody did a tuck no-hander down a huge set, Dirt McGirt had a huge sack of bud, and David Urbieta somehow managed to break his shoulder falling off a curb after getting back to San Jose.

I rode out at Roosevelt for a couple hours this morning with the Graceful Manatee before going to work. A near-empty park is a happy park, at least until the City trash-collector shows up at ten. Shades of Sunnyvale's "Lawnmower Man."

And here's Marco's Icer Air web edit:

Solano Ave Cyclery Video Teaser No. One

Solano Avenue Cyclery is clearly the best BMX shop in the Bay Area. The following video is a teaser for a full length feature coming out in 2009. This segment features local John Ivers killing it. Enjoy!

P.S. Hell on Wheels 4 tomorrow!

Wassup!?!?!

Click here for the third part of Marco's Lotek SF edit. Here's Nick Schwarzenbach's new Bay Game edit, with a hot-like-fire Sean Parker move as the banger:

And here's Nick "that vaguely familiar-looking guy with the VX2000" Gust's Icer Air edit, complete with that one as the finale:

This right here is a shot of Derek Wilson doing a treeride-to-fakie, by Joey something-or-other.

The Roosevelt park in Downtown SJ is now open, or at least is supposed to be; the grand-opening date is December 11th, if memory serves me right. Should make for some great morning sessions.

The Halloween Jam at Fun Spot is now on Sunday, November 2nd, and is now the End of Summer Jam. It starts at noon, and the entrance fee is a five-dollar donation for Mike Aitken and two cans of food for the Second Harvest Food Bank. For more info, contact Crazy Chris, Mike Hernandez, or Jackson Allen. Also benefitting Aitken is a jam Justin Wendlandt is putting on at the Gilroy park on November 22nd. Click here to see the flyer.

And, now, a message...

Icer Air Edit

The other edits that are sure to come out (Marco's and Christian's, and presumably the vaguely familiar-looking guy with the VX2000 who kept getting kicked out for not having a press pass...) will probably have a lot of different clips in them, so if your stepdown backflip or your doublewhip air isn't in here, it'll pop up soon enough elsewhere. Anyway, I've had people ask me if I'm going to put up the footage of Ari lawndarting into the asphalt and knocking himself out on that flairwhip attempt; it's not going to happen. I did talk to Ronnie today, though, and Ari's already out of the hospital and is chilling at home.

And here's a new Bay Game edit. Jackson's line at 1:26 is fucking legit.

MOAR!

Part two of Marco's Lotek SF edit is up on Vimby. Click here to watch it.

Mike Kohn sent me a new edit featuring some of the Walnut Creek locals:

Here's a photo that Dan Dunn took of Mike Marcelino: Proper fucking no-footer.

Cody Brown is working on a fixed gear site: Fixed Culture

Yeah...

There's several more of these over at Joey Garcia's once-again-updating Unevenground, but, in the meantime, here's a couple shots from Scarbecue '37, by Derek:

thumb Elliott, tuck no-hander air.
thumb Dakota, subbox fufanu.

Photos of Elliott by Cory, taken on a couple different days at the Morgan Hill park:

thumb Table air.
thumb Footjam.
thumb Drivin' that bus!
thumb Tuck no-hander.

Street photos by Derek and Rigo, of Rigo and Derek:

thumb Rigo, wall-to-fakie.
thumb Rigo, wallride.
thumb Derek, wallride.

Meet The Street photos and video on the Ride site, and Marco's edit for Vimby, which is way more entertaining than the Ride edits. There's also some photos that Joey took up on Unevenground. I didn't get a chance to look through all the footy I've got yet, but hopefully I'll have an edit done tomorrow night; I'd do it tonight, but I'll be at the Sharks-Blue Jackets game, so... yeah.

Icer Air is Saturday only, not Friday and Saturday, as I had previously posted. Mike's supposed to be sending a flier my way to post up, but for the time being, go to IcerAir.com for more info.

Crazy Chris is setting up a Halloween Jam at Fun Spot on Saturday, November 1st. Flier coming soon. The only real detail I have is that it's some sort of benefit for the homeless, and the entry fee is going to be two (or more) cans of food.

Something Is Wrong With Me

There has to be something wrong with me. After two days of filming at the Meet the Street contest, I came home, captured all the footage, and made a quick edit. After doing that I don't think I ever want to look at the footage again! So here is a rough cut, and I assume I will never finish the final edit. So you get what you get. Beerman and Marco were there so you will certainly see a few more edits in the near future.

P.S. Pete Brandt interview coming soon...

More Stuff

Not to detract from the value of Nip's post from earlier today, as I meant to post this stuff up last night, but instead I ended up watching Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog, which is totally awesome. Joss Whedon is my master now. Anyway...

Here's part one of Marco's Lotek San Francisco Mixtape. For whatever reason, Vimby doesn't allow outside streams anymore, so click here to watch it.

People keep asking me about the details for Meet The Street, which they could have easily found on 2-Hip's website weeks ago, but, yeah... here's the flier.

There's going to be a (presumably) oldschool BBQ at Calabazas on Saturday, October 18th, entitled The Harvest Party. For more info, click this link.

Pictures from Scarbecue 37, the Morgan Hill park, and the streets will be up tomorrow evening. Probably.
