Just Words

I don't have a new video or photos to put up yet, since my laptop just showed up today and I'm in the process of copying all of my stuff onto it, which looks like it will take at least two sittings to do. So, yeah. That's the news...

...aside from the Cunningham employees finally getting around to actually doing their jobs, for which they are way, way overpaid, on Sunday. I ended up leaving fifteen minutes into the session when the management called me out on not having brakes (which I'll have as soon as I can afford a drivetrain that they can actually fit under...), and ended up riding with Mike, Jackson, and Kevin from Santa Cruz, and Chris from Fresno, all of whom were in the South Bay for the day. We went out to El Grullense #69420 for breakfast and the best carnitas ever, and then headed over to the Redwood City park to meet up with former Woodward West dudes John Rokos and Shawn Dorton, who now live on the Peninsula and work for Tesla and a local school, respectively. After that, we went out to Atascadero; no one jumped anything and I got a fix-it ticket for the broken turn signals on my Civic. Then we went to Cali, saw a fruity MTB kid with an Aussie accent exchange shittalk with a similarly fruity, non-accented MTB kid. It ended when the Aussie kid said something along the lines of "I'm sensing some hostility here, mate. Do you have a problem?" and the other kid was all, like, "no." Anyway, we headed out to LG Bowl after that, where I got some clips you'll see soon enough.

I'm going to have to buy that bike so i have brakes.

It amazes me how much faster USB 2.0 is than 1.0. It took me five hours to copy most of my data (basically, everything but the 20gb of SJBMX files) onto a portable harddrive last night on my old desktop. It's taking twenty minutes to copy that same 25gb of files onto my new laptop. Ridiculous. Now just to take care of all the SJBMX stuff...

usb 2.0 vs. 1.0 yeah, amazes the ass out of me.

i got gas money... i just dont know where to go

I have you listed as "Bikeguide Guy" in my cellphone.

Are you going to need some brakes?
I'm pretty sure I have got some just laying around...

I have brakes. The frame I have has chainstay mounts that aren't lowered, though, so they won't clear 25-9. It's really not a big deal; there's plenty of other places where I can go ride on Sunday mornings for the time being.

eh your right, it was just an offer to help out a friend.
i have never liked chainstay brake mounts :|

Just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of Nor Cal's finest, CECIL JOHNS. Take some time to remember and reflect on what this man has done for our sport, and what he did for his friends. Treated me like a son, treated everyone with so much love. He did not believe the hype, and did not stand for the fake shit, or fake ass mutherfuckers. Kept it raw and always came at you straight pipe. Wish he was still here in the physical, he always had a way of keeping me from falling off the deep end. His abilities on and off the bike are astounding. His influence stretched world wide. For those of us who knew him, he is still here. A constant flame in our hearts. Guy always kept a clear head, never needed to be crunk or stoned out of his mind. He found the real essence in life was being clear headed and attacking shit head on, never backing down.

"If there is no struggle, than there can be no progress." C.J. 12/21/91

Keep your heads up, never back down in the face of fear. Failure is not an option.

Peace,
Squirrel
