Since some people are probably wondering what the deal with the flatland shots is, here's what Dion from Two Wheel Life had to say: Mutt and I are trying to start up the Bay Area flatland scene again (outside of the Clocktower) where we call all flat riders once a month to jam a little. Our sessions are the first Sunday of every month at the BBT (Big Black Top) on the corner of James Ave and Redwood Rd in Castro Valley. We start at 3:00PM and end in the evening. For more information, any flatland rider can email me or can catch me sessioning at the parking lot of Leland High in Almaden/San Jose, most afternoons. Thanks!

Damn those photos are insane, except that one was taken by a homo but Elliot looked good at least. Those V-Dogg pics pretty much shut the others down, sorry. Notice a young skinny Kurt "Crowbar" Yaeger sitting on the couch on the original San Jose Ramp Club vert ramp. Vince you are leading the way on the "BIO-air" revolution. I saw you do a perfect one last Sunday. Can-cans are insane on vert. Show me the way, would love to throw them out of the pool.

You have the air time on vert to throw them, I can show you an easy way to work into them.

That would be insane, my problem is judging where to land in the quarter once my leg is over.

I know there aren't many flatlanders on SJBMX, but we're really trying to promote it. Some street riders have talked to me and taken up an interest, but it's a hard/wierd transition for many - especially the geometry of the flatland bikes. I stopped riding back in 1991 and just recently started back up again - and even with 17 yrs. past, it's coming back. So maybe there's some old-schoolers like me wanting to re-light the BMX torch and can't/don't want to enter into the gnarly big-air, street/ramp/dirt scene that BMX has become, but still want to "freestyle".

For those of you out in the valley, we'll be holding a mini-flatland jam in Manteca on Aug. 30th. Again, anybody who's interested can feel free to contact me at dion@twowheellife.com. As always, I ride Leland High School most afternoons. PEACE! -Dion

Dion--Its me Joe... I met you out at Cunningham when you had that seat clamp problem. Keep driving at what you are doing and hopefully you will get a good following of flatland riders, or some hybrids. What I mean by that is riders etc.. that like to do some flatland/street or flatland/park take your pick. I know that most riders won't have that flatland spec. bike, but hopefully they can start learning the basic tricks on the bikes they have now then progress from there. In all its all about having fun and a good time on your bike with friends!

We need more FLATLAND!!! Dion do you know Chris Wrigt of Brickhouse bikes? He rides flat and knows a lot of flatlanders. You may want to contact him at:
chris_wright@rattlebrain.com
Tell him Squirrel sent you. Hes the only guy I am still in cantact with that still rides flat. You might want to track down Gabe Weed as well but he might not be in the area.]

Peace

Joe Email me your number. Thought I had it saved in my phone and I ended up calling some random dude? Cally tomorrow?

Not to shit on Joey C., or whoever posted his footjam picture which is sick. That spine is no where near 7feet tall. They wish! 6 feet at the most. Go to Martinez if your looking for a 7foot spine.

Yeah, that was a typo on my part.

Just trying to make sure that we report accurately since I would not want anyone to accuse us of being hypocrites.

Yo NCS,

Yes, I know Chris. He's in Canada right now and won't be back for some time. I actually grew up in Santa Cruz (born and raised), back in the day when there were only *2* of us (a guy named Seth Osborne was my riding partner). Somehow back in 1989-90 we hooked up with Mutt and a bunch of Ozone guys (team and not). When I got back into riding, I found out the same cats were still riding! So it was a bitter-sweet reunion - bitter because I was stupid and quit riding BITD, but sweet because it was like I never quit. My nerves are not the same was they were, and plus I ache all over nowadays, so flatland is right for me as opposed to hitting the rails and 3's like I used to do.

After I quit, I guess Chris and my friend Seth hooked up and rode together around '92... then Seth quit and it's history.

I'm going to try and make Saturday, Joe. I have to go to something for work, but I'll try to swing by afterward. I really want to check your bike collection, bro!!! -Dion :)

Yo Dion, Ozone? Well you must know Oscar or Hugo Gonzalez. Oscar and I will be out on Saturday for a short time. Let us know what time you are going to ride out there.

Speaking of Scar- If he doesnt attend the race I shall shed tears! Aug. 23rd whos training so far?
NOR*CAL BAY SHIT!

S&M is now sponsoring the NorCal Classic; also, clipless pedals are not allowed.

Nick,

I will be there more than likely, calling Old School Joe, calling Old School Joe, are you going to be there? Also Nick, I have a concern, between me, my bike (heavy ass shit), all my gear, I am probably well over 300lbs together, does that exceed the weigh limit on the track, lol.

Anyone, what time does the old school thing happen??? Ol' school Joe I need your number and email.

In the morning and into the afternoon.

I've got an appointment to check out an apartment in downtown, so I probably won't make it out there. Besides, my knees are too jacked up to ride for at least the next few days.

Solid and Empire are now sponsoring the NorCal Classic.

Start time is 10:00am at Cali. I'll be heading out at 8:00am to help out Kenny & Jake setting up stuff for BBQ and stuff. I'll be bringing only about 4 bikes and 1 rider this time with also some used new school stuff I posted up for sale on SJBMX. Also if all works out well I'll be bringing small TV with built in VCR. Features will include:

Ain't Mad At Yea!
Sick I
Sick II
Standards Exit 63-- When they came through here in the late 90's that has some Nor Cal trail riding and a visit to what else SJ Ramp Club!

I'll play the thing till the battery runs down. With this theme (NorCal/Calabazas) and next week 1st Annual NorCal Classic in mind I'll be bringing my Boss Bikes to show.

Squirrel--Called and left a message for you. My email is josephnkimberly@aol.com.

Dion-Swing by when you get a chance!even if its just for a little while, it will be worth it. Call me when you are on your way! As for Chris Wrigt I have not seen him since they closed down Felton Skatepark. I will have to make time in the future to do a flatland session at Leland High. Thats funny Leland High because if you guys remember that Air Uni add in the Bmx mags back then with the Leland cheer leaders and Corvette. My skills suck since I don't put anytime to do or try flatland, but also my tricks are from 84-87. I recently got the 101 Tricks books part I and II from Joe Vasquez. Maybe I'll start from page 1 and work my way to each trick like that. I also got the videos too. There are so many tricks that had been forgotten. I'll bring those books and videos tomorrow so everyone intersted can check them out.

Vdogg43/Vince--With my schedule I'll be able to make it out the 23rd. Good thing that it is in the morning to noon. After that it will be time with the wife to go to 2 partys that day. One at 2:00pm then the other at 6:00pm. Busy day for me!

Nick-- I made some copies of the post of 1st Annual Norcal Classic to hang up tomorrow, so we can spread the word and get notice of the event.

Its great to see so much stuff happening now in NorCal!

wish i can make it to cali today :( dam dirtbike

I'll try to make it out this afternoon, bikeless, plus add the Mrs. Joe, if you can make it out to the Big Black Top in Castro Valley, we'd love to have you, mang. I still do infinity rolls and stuff, so you won't be the only old-schooler!

Just added- RAMP RATS BIKE/SKATE PARK is also sponsoring the Nor*Cal Classic and has kicked down a handful of free sessions to be distributed at the race... Shits lookin good!

NOR*CAL BAY SHIT!

The shit never stops... Supercrossbmx.com has just sent out some goods for the race event as well- Thanks to Bill Ryan the big dog over there for the support remember gusy support the shops and companies that make shit like this happen :)
