The Grapes of Wrath
Mon, 08/04/2008 - 12:40pm — Chris McMahon
There's going to be another old-school BBQ out at Calabazas on Saturday the 16th. Hopefully it'll be riding decently by then, because I headed out on there on Saturday and, to put it frankly, Steinbeck easily could've written a mini-novella about the Dustbowl.

Chris thanks for posting up the event on the news! Kenny and Jake are the ones that are putting up the event again. Last time it was a good turn out enough food and bike storys to go around, also a good mixed crowd of old school, mid school and new school bmx riders/people. Talking about the Dust Bowl/Steinback, hopefully we won't suffer a great depression because of the condition Cali is in, but you try with the best of what it can offer for now. Hopefully a good session goes down, but if not we can all hang out and have a good BBQ and session somewhere else later after a few beers!lol! Cool video for being 22years old! Yeah I even went to Century 24 back in the day to see it on the Big Screen back then. If you check out the sprocket on a few scenes you can see that they used small sprockets back then. That was Pat Ramano's direct drive set up. That it why he was able to stay spinning on the back wheel for days. On some of your Dorken Video's Chris Kevin Jones used that same set up on a few bikes. Best of all in that movie was Lori Loughlin! She looked Hot back then, and she still looks Hot now!
I may try and go out there this Sunday after the Cunningham session to put in some shovels, but I have my doubts that any real work will get done due to the shitty lime sand that they've got out there. We'll see.
Damn I forgot how much RAD ruled. I reflect back to the "Joe Kid on a Stingray" premiere in Hollywood that Joey, Mat, Drob, Scar, Dennis and I went to. Fucking sick premiere red carpet bullshit. But one of my highlights of that night was getting to shake hands with "Crew Jones", and marking out to Eddie Fiola on the spot. Guy looks great now, and was one of the coolest laid back dudes.
BBQ sounds good, should be able to make it. Chris what are your talking about with the shovel? Its useless trying to do anything out there unless you have a hose in hand, and also what ever you have been working on hopefully has been soaking for hours, or the dirt just will not hold at Cally, ask me how I know. But also keep in mind that the city of San Jose does not run that park anymore, R.O.G. Incorporated runs that park now. So as much as people hate "my boy" Mat, they will have to talk to him. Cunningham in 1.5hours. Found a new line last Sunday, for everyone to bite on.
Peace,
Squirrel
I was going to attempt the "long hose from the BBQ area, through the gate, to the pack" method, but I think I'm just going to not even bother, instead. I might just go out there before the jam and hose it down periodically to keep the dust down.
im there, i missed the last one cant wait. plus i got some old parts to get rid of, its a swap meat to right?. my place is gettin way better what is it gona take to some of you guys to sesh. scotty
I don't know, Scotty. A swap meat sounds pretty homo. But... this is BMX, so I guess that that makes sense.
Yeah Scotty there will be a swap meet going on beside the bike show and stuff. Buy, sell or trade new school, mid school and old school stuff. Let me know what you have? Maybe you can do some trades. You may have some stuff that I may need for future projects.
