Big Beeswax just sent this link over. To paraphrase it, the newer park’s already been demoed by Caltrans, but you’ve still got a week or two left to hit up the original…

RIP Brandon Barnes

I forgot to post this earlier, but 14-year old Fresno local Brandon Barnes was hit by a car and passed away on June 25th, 2011. I never met Brandon (or, at least, I don’t think I did), but this sort of thing always hits hard, regardless of who it is. Coming from San Jose, it’s especially bad, as the fifth anniversary of Kevis Halphen’s death is coming up on July 27th. Anyway, if you knew Brandon, or, even if you didn’t know him, there’s a Facebook page set up in his memory. Click here to visit it.

Bad Astronomy

This doesn’t have anything to do with BMX, but I’ve got to say that Discover Magazine’s Bad Astronomy blog has been one of my favorites for a long while, because of articles like this. This line sums it up pretty well: “Think about that: a guy living in space is taking hi-res digital pictures and uploading them to the web so everyone with internet access can see. You can keep your flying cars: we do live in the future.”

Check the Flickr account in the link.
