Varyag Tour

The Russian Slava-class guided missile cruiser Varyag is docked at Piers 30-32 on the Embarcadero this week (the first time a Russian naval vessel’s docked in San Francisco since during the Civil War, in 1863), and they’re doing tours on Thursday from 10AM-1PM. Figured I should post it, since it’s highly unlikely that the opportunity to take a tour of an ex-Soviet warship is going to arise again. Via The Chronicle.

Not to be fucked with.

Bubba says: “This should be on the flyer, but it’s not: Best trick contest, with $50 (Open Class) and $25 (15 & Under Class) prizes.”

There's a liquor store across the street, right?

Gearhead Jump Jam

[6/18] Didn’t notice that Mesta had posted a comment with more info on this until now. Here’s the copypasta:

1pm-Bunnyhop
2pm-Dirt Comp
3pm-Rail Jam
4pm-Best Trick
5pm-High Jump

Prizes awarded to the top 3 in Rail Jam, Dirt Comp, and Best Trick.
Prizes awarded to the winners of Bunnyhop and High Jump.
Sponsors: Gearhead Bicycles, First Rule, etc…

[6/16] I don’t have a flyer for this, but it’ll be taking place at Gearhead Bicycles (1039A Terra Nova Blvd. in Pacifica) on Saturday. Here’s the info that Paul sent over:

The dirt jumping session starts at noon, and the contest starts at 5pm (sunset’s at 8:30pm).  There will also be High Jump, Best Trick, and Bunnyhop contests. The event is free for all participants, with music from DJ Chanclas, and BBQ until supplies run out.

STFBMX Grand Opening

[6/10] Greg and I headed out to the shop yesterday to help Samar and Nick out, and I also shot this little bit with Nick about Saturday’s grand opening event. Be sure to come and check out the scene, because it’s gonna be rad.

[6/1] Samar hit me up the other day to let me know that he now has the keys to the shop, and that the grand opening event is still going down on the 12th. However, the address is 728 Main Street in Martinez, and not the location in Pleasant Hill that I’d thought it was at.

[5/24] I keep forgetting to post this up, but Samar Carrillo and Nick Ramirez’s BMX-specific shop in Pleasant Hill Martinez, STFBMX, is set to open on June 12th. In the meantime, check out their website.

Fox Golden State of Mind Tour

Here’s the Bay Area stops. I’m not sure how the Roosevelt stop’s going to go, with the park being a bust as of late, but hopefully it’ll go well. I’ve also got to wonder how they plan on being at Warriors of Wood II on the 27th, when it’s been rescheduled to take place on the 26th, so there may be some changes to this soon. Via Fox.

June 24 – Roosevelt Park – 901 E. Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95116 @ 3:00pm – 5:00pm
June 25 – Fox – Valley Fair Mall – 2855 Stevens Creek Blvd. Santa Clara, CA 95050 @ 6:00pm – 7:00pm
June 26 – Morgan Hill BMX & Skate Park – 171 W. Edmundson Ave. Morgan Hill, CA 95037 @ 1:00pm – 3:00pm
June 27 – Warriors of Wood – 680 S. 34th St. San Jose, CA 95116 Time: TBD

Oaklavia Bunny Hop Contest

Phil from RideSFO shot me a reminder that on June 27th Oaklavia is shutting down downtown Oakland from 10am to 2pm. You can find more information on the event at the Walk Oakland – Bike Oakland website. Phil will be hosting a bunny hop contest so if you’re free you should show up and hang out. Phil is a great host, so you’re bound to have a good time.

2nd Annual S&M/Fit Customer Appreciation Party, Hosted by First Rule

With the up-rising of personal activity in the First Rule Collective recently, we have decided to combine events in 2010, to be more efficient. What with Kweli’s family, my school work, Cheese out running the streets, and Koit’s constant need to be on the road, how else will the doughnuts get made??

So here you have it… this is the 2nd Annual S&M/Fit Bikes Customer Appreciation Party, hosted by First Rule!

Meet us at the Oakland Metro Opera House at 12 noon on Sunday, June 13th! We will, as per usual, Scrape the Town… but with a slight twist. You see, this street ride will come back to the Opera House for a juicy treat. This lovely venue will be fitted for all of the flatlanders we can fit on the dance floor! Chad & Amy Johnston have helped organize this to fit your flatland needs. That’s right, this is a 6,000 sq ft venue, ready to be melted by any rider who wishes to attend, for free. All any rider has to do, flat, street, or whatever your treat, is meet us at 12 noon, sign up for the ride, and get your wristband for the afterparty. This is an all-ages event, fully equipped with a BBQ and drinks, with drinks for the adults as well! (Drink specials when provided when beverages run out.) And you can bet that with Moody as emcee, with two DJs and a few bands to back him up, there will be a tad bit of entertainment for all of your taste buds!

This event is free for any rider who wishes to come out and say “what up!” There will be prizes from S&M and Fit Bikes, and local Bay Area bike shops.
