Ruben Alcantara
Best edit I’ve seen in a minute right here. Ruben’s beyond rad, and his riding’s lent itself real well to artistic filming and editing for a long time running. Psyched on this.
Warriors of Wood III
I filmed a bit of the street jam, but decided to leave that footage out of this edit. It’ll pop up in a mix edit sooner or later. Anyway, Nick Noble won best trick with truckdriver to no-footer one-hander, and Jason Lopez took first over Diogo Canina and Rob Darden. As far as other standout shit goes, Joel Hulsey did a lot of rad shit, Tom Dugan went stupid high with a ton of style, Van Homan did a perfect no-footed can, Mike Aitken was present, and Mark Blackwell was doing the forbidden trick all damn day.
GOODfeelin – Thirty Second Thursday – Troy Sanders
So stoked on seeing some footage of this guy – haven’t seen him nearly often enough since Vans closed.
“BANNED” BMX riders Rickey Bates and Gary Dimartine killed in auto accident
I hate hearing this shit, can’t say shit cause I just have not heard what happened, I hope this wasn’t some careless type of Ryan Dunn shit. Not worth pushing the limit all the time, guys were mostly stoked from having sessioned Vegas, never saw this coming.
Bates, Dimartine killed in auto accident
Andrew WhiteRickey Bates, seen here, getting flat out of a Philadelphia fountain, was killed on Tuesday in an automobile accident.
Updated, 4:30 p.m., 9/22
Banned BMX riders and members of the Casselberry, Fla. crew, Rickey Bates and Gary Dimartine were killed in an automobile accident on Tuesday night, according to Bates’ sponsor The Shadow Conspiracy.
According to reports, Bates and Dimartine were traveling on Highway 93 north of Wickenburg, Ariz., when they tried to pass other cars on the road. They collided head-on with Arizona Department of Safety employee Matthew Uhl, 46, who was also killed in the accident.
There were no signs of impairment in either driver.
The pair were en route from Las Vegas, Nev. to Phoenix, Ariz., when the accident occurred. According to the Banned BMX blog, both Bates and Dimartine were traveling on a limited budget, and were in Las Vegas for Interbike 2011, to showcase new Banned BMX products in the Sparky’s Distribution booth.
Bates, 23, a resident of Casselberry, Fla., was the creator of the “Banned” video series, which produced four DVDs, as well as hard goods. Banned products included BMX frames, sprockets, handlebars and the new ‘Sludge’ stem, which was Dimartine’s signature topload stem. “It’s meant for straight drops, and to hold your bars in place,” Bates told Ride BMX in an on-camera interview last week in Vegas.
Bates was a member of the Sputnic BMX pro team, as well as the Shadow Conspiracy team. Sputnic had offered a signature Bates frame, dubbed the ‘Regulator‘ for the past two years, and were working with Bates on special edition Banned frames.
Fellow Sputnic team rider Mike Cottle tweeted, “I’m stoked to have a Regulator. I love you Rickey,” minutes after learning of the news.
Courtesy of Gary Dimartine FacebookGary Dimartine, member of the Banned BMX crew, was killed on Tuesday in an automobile accident outside of Phoenix, Ariz.
Gary Dimartine, 24, was originally from Galloway, N.J., and had spent the past several years living between Philadelphia and Central Florida. After moving to the Florida area, Dimartine began filming for and appearing in the “Banned” video series. According to Sparky’s employee and friend John Paul Rogers, Dimartine was an “awesomely awkwardly funny kid.”
Uhl, a civilian helicopter pilot with the Kingman Air Rescue, is survived by his wife and three children.
Our condolences go out to the rider’s friends and families, the entire Florida crew, the family and friends of Matthew Uhl, and all those affected by this unfortunate news.
We will update this story as more news becomes available.

L.C.R.S.P. meeting at San Jose City Hall tonight! today 9/20/2011
To anyone who reads this and would like to support keeping Lake Cunningham staffed, users of this great park need to ban together to try and rally support to keep at least one body there during park hours. If that park was unstaffed, it would go to shit like all the other San Jose parks, meaning broken glass and grafitti, and all the jack offs that think they hard hanging out at a skate park that don’t ride anything. I can do without those people while I am riding and would not hesitate to put a peg up their ass as well if they cause harm to the park that I am paying to ride. Lets unite.
Cunningham does not have any of that shit, people are sooo broke and cheap that they cannot see paying per session to ride some real concrete. If thats what keeps the jack-offs out, then I will happily continue to pay to ride. I cannot speak for the employees of that park, but if they are trying to save money, then they only really need one person there. The locals usually help keep order in the park anyways. Sooooooooooooo
Public opinion will be “heard” tonight at 5pm. Place: City Hall in San Jose; Time: 5PM sharp, I do not have any other info. Seriously if you have the time, put on a nice shirt and show up and voice you’re intelligent opinion. Don’t let the shit die.

2Hip: Elliott Negron
I was wondering when this footage I gave to Jarrod to edit was going to see the light of day. Anyway, even though Elliott’s been on 2Hip for some time now, this is his “Welcome to the Team” edit.
