[6/19/10]

[6/14/10] So, I was in a meeting for an hour today about Warriors of Wood. I should have a new flyer up in a couple of days. In the meantime, here’s some updated info…
If you’re interested in riding in the event, click here to register. Anyone entered in the contest will be able to bringĀ to four people that will get VIP passes. Also, the event is going to be free for spectators this year. Here’s the tentative schedule:
Friday, 6/25
1:00 – Practice (Until 5:00)
Saturday, 6/26
11:00 Gates Open, Practice
2:00 Qualifying (Three Groups)
7:30 Finals
8:45 Best Trick
Also, here’s the course layout, as drawn by Shea.

[5/25/10] I wasn’t able to make it today’s meeting, but Ryan sent me an email saying that the street event will not be happening this year. It’s unfortunate, but it was going to cost a good deal of money to get it built, and due to a lack of sponsors, the funds just weren’t there. Hopefully it’ll be able to go down next year, though. That being said, the jumping comp will still be happening, with practice on Friday, June 25th, and the comp on Saturday the 26th. I’ll post updates as they come in.

Comment by krud — April 7, 2010
Stoked as well, but if the street course looks anything like the last Meet the Street Course on Treasure Island, were all fucked! If thats the case, they should cancel street and have a break dancing competition.

ill do “the worm”.
Comment by Stephen — April 8, 2010
can everyone ride or only pros could?
Comment by noobie — April 8, 2010
There may be an amateur jam on Friday the 25th, but we’re not certain on it, though. If you think you’ve got what it takes to enter the pro class, though, you’re more than welcome to go ahead and give it a try. We’ll have more information soon.

hella gay

Fucking Gay All people had to do was ask for help/donations. Nothing for the down and dirty…..
Comment by Mesta — May 26, 2010
You’re vastly underestimating the costs, Eric.
Comment by Chris McMahon — May 26, 2010
Yeah I think it sucks too. I was really looking forward to having the street comp, but as Chris said, the costs were very high. We are talking thousands and thousands of dollars to do it right. I’m not one to do things half-assed either, so we felt it better to wait until next year, start looking for sponsors/donations earlier, and hopefully have a kick ass event. My apologies for anyone who is disappointed, but we will do our best to make this happen next year.
Comment by Ryan Nyquist — May 26, 2010
Let me know if I can help out….
Comment by Mesta — May 26, 2010
Funny how people’s tone change when Mr. Nyquist chimes in. Yeah no street sounds like a good thing since cash is almost none existent and since hopefully no ramps have to be purchased this year, there may be more money to put into other areas. Right now the focus should be to try and get the word out because the attendance last year was a Joke and a slap in the face to Ryan and all the guys who helped out. Also you don’t want a shitty street course being tied to Warriors of Wood since right now the name is good. I would love to help but that would require someone actually asking. Event should be good though, if people show up.
Comment by Damian Schinella — May 26, 2010
It would be nice to get the word out on who will be there competing. When I went last year I thought it was just going to be Ryan and a bunch of ams and was happy to see a bunch of top pros.

Its Free this year, that will nearly double if not triple attendance lets be real people the economy sucks but BMX is fun so people will show up for the huck fest. With a toned down course I can see alot more local guys sending it for the purpose of being the cool guy in SJ. Nyquist is the man and him coming back to norcal is a boost to the local scene, without him you have no event of this caliber, so for anyone talkin shit- fuck off. That being said Im psyked! lets dooooo This!
Comment by Nick dawg — June 15, 2010
