Fun Spot Jump Jam

Unlike the 2008 event, this one's invite only... but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't roll out and heckle people.

  4. THIS IS FUCKING BACKTRAIL SINCE ITS BEING PUT ON BY JESSE “DOUCHBAG”, WHO I REMEMBER MEETING WHILE BEING OUT THERE HELPING THE GUYS BUILD the Fun Spot. UNLESS YOU GOT INVITED, THAN ITS SUPER COOL. I WILL CHEER FOR CAM FROM A FAR, SINCE THERE IS NO POINT TO SIT IN TRAFFIC ON A SATURDAY TO DRIVE TO SANTA CRUZ TO WATCH OTHER PEOPLE RIDE. THEN ONLY TO BE OFFERED A PLATTER OF SLOPPY SECONDS IN THE FORM OF “STAY AND RIDE AFTER THE COMP.” PASS, PASS, PASS. Basic bait and switch willy with some sideline-root jones on the backside. Get a line together Cam, both ways if possible, and don’t break your toe.

  5. I hear you squirrel, not a roots effort from the heart of Santa Cruz (look out for one of those in the future) and I always appreciate your willingness to voice your opinion at full volume. “Invite only” is not my cup of tea but then again this is almost purely a promotional event for Santa Cruz City/Amgen etc. The cost of getting a city run (but rider built) bikepark is that they own it, and will occassionally use it to their benefit (fine by me). Jesse may have his detractors but he helped raised the money for the (pretty generous) purse and the park in the first place and there is no entry fee for the invitees. People may not like his style but his heart is in the right place (he has helped bike riding in this town and I know a portion of San Jose comes over the hill to take advantage of that (in a good way)). Sloppy Seconds? Not sure the course will be rallied in any real way and in all honesty the park isn’t too much fun to ride before 5pm because of glare/sun/wind. I really hope Cam’s the winner (he has my vote). As far as traffic, Squirrel is right, could be hellish, leave early and stay late, and don’t think about taking Highway 9 as it is closed for a bicycle event.
